Are the TV shows, cartoons, comics and original movies that made your childhood feel like a magical adventure calling you in the middle of the night from a street corner pay phone asking for rescue from the H-wood pimp that’s whoring them out to make quick, easy, brainless, creative-fee profit?

If these questions have put into words the puke-alarm feeling that’s been slowly building in your gut over the last 4 cinematic years, then smile, you’re not crazy or pregnant, though you still might have the herp...you’ve just been sensing the MOVIEPOCALYPSE!

It’s the end of GOOD MOVIES. Of movies made with a fresh creative spirit.

To help prevent this cinematic catastrophe , I’ll be blogging regularly here to keep us all up to date on the day to day battles and hopefully, help make a movie difference!

THE EXECUTIVE

OCTOBER 8TH 2009

I was contacted by someone who says the work in the Movie Industry. Below is a video I made after recording their audio communication. Is this for real? I hope so, we need all the good movie support we can get.

Who is The Executive

Here’s the text of this communication.

Movie Preview Critic, imagine if you will a Movie Future where every release is either a remake, reboot, sequel or adaptation. Imagine a future where originality is gone. Not because there are no creative, talented story tellers, but because it’s not required by a dumbed down , distracted, uneducated audience. That has slowly been trained to be that way like a Pavlovian Dog.

A movie future where CGI is more important than story and character. Where there are no more actors, just celebrities vertically integrating their careers across various media, one of which happens to be movies. A movie future where main characters no longer experience journeys of growth, of personal change.

 A future where Independent Cinema is incompetent and irrelevant. Where the target demographic is high school and college students. A movie future where the accountant gives the green light, the marketing department directs and the advertisers write the script.

Movie Preview Critic, stop imagining and instead, look out your window at the billboard advertising the latest Hollywood, or as you refer to it, H-wood, would-be blockbuster. because that future is here. This is the current state of the movie World.

 You’re probably asking yourself questions regarding my credibility and identity, at the moment, these details are not import ant. Suffice to say, I can not reveal these specifics yet. For the time being I must remain a shadow, a rumor, a myth. However, so that you may be in the moment, so that you may hear this message without distraction, know that I am a member of H-wood's inner circle. this inner circle is known as: THE EXECUTIVES.

 But I do not represent them. Instead I am here on behalf of a larger group, a sizable contingent of movie loving professional film makers, who are disgusted with the current state of the Movie World. Who can no longer stand by, and condone, the profit motivated rape of cinema's spirit, by the few in power, who have been blinded by their rank. Corrupted by the spoils of repeated box office victory, that overwhelm those in such positions, those who have lost themselves in a fog of short sighted, fear-motivated, self-preserving instant gratification.

We call ourselves: THE AVANT-GARDE.

Off In the not too distant horizon, waits our storytelling oblivion, or, as you have referred to it, The Moviepocalypse. This, “end of good movies” has been carefully, systematically and strategically orchestrated. This entrepreneurial endeavor, for that, at it's most basic, for that is what it is, a long term, business plan, aimed at ever increasing profit, has been dubbed clumsily by fan boy paranoids as, “The Hollywood Conspiracy.” To those who know, it's referred to as: THE PLOT LINE.

This is my first revelation two you.

Over the next few weeks I will provide you with proof, with hard evidence, verifying these statements, confirming past events and predicting those to come. This movie truth must be known. The signs of The Moviepocalypse are all around us, revealing themselves with each new H-wood release.

 Which brings me to the second revelation: There is no Hollywood. 

The days of competing studios trying to out duel one another for properties, and talent, have not existed for quite some time. The public relations propaganda would have you believe, that there are, eight or so major distributors like Dreamworks, Disney and Universal, along with a few dozen well-sized production companies like Summit Entertainment, Dimension Films and Lions Gate. These are like the tentacles of an octopus, seen individually, they seem to be autonomous, but when examined closely, they are just nerve endings connected to one controlling source, known only by The Executives as STORY CORP.

That is the name of the enemy of good movie lovers everywhere. From this moment, you must replace “H-wood” with “Story Corp.”

The more it is spoken, the less secretive it is. The more it becomes part of the audience's awareness the less power it possesses. It can only succeed in the darkness of secrecy. It is our mission to drag it out into the light, for all to see, for justice to be done. The enemy now has a name. In my next communication, I will reveal the faces of those working as agents of Story Corp. and explore the details of The Plot Line. For now, I know you would like to call me something, which is very sensible, therefore, refer to me as, The Executive. Until then, Long Live Good Movies. 

SMARTBRAINTHINK

Back in the days of Plato, Socrates and all those great Greek thinkers there was a belief that the citizens needed to be educated, informed and politically active to have a healthy, functioning society. Today, Cinema is more of a democracy than ever. The power of the Internet, of connectedness, of word of mouth, of information can make or break a box office weekend. Ticket buying is a way of voting. If previews are the political ad campaigns created to influence our ticket buying behavior, then it’s our duty to be informed beyond their message, to know more than they offer. As movie citizenry, as the audience, it’s our duty to have SmartBrainThink.

I haven’t seen many movies that can truthfully claim they’re the number one grossing movie in the world. The end MUST be near, cause it’s one of the WORST movies ever...aside from the effects.

If it’s sh*tty everything except CGI then that’s what we get. We’ve got 2 years till Transformers 3, so let the battle for good movies continue!
