WHAT’S A ‘MOVIE NIGHT’?

Here’s the no bullsh*t explaination: sometimes a movie needs more than a 5 minute review. Sometimes there’s a lot to talk about. Some movies need only quick reviews while others deserve a scene by scene, moment by moment analysis. This is done with a home made, poor man’s director’s commentary. Here, it’s a ‘critic’s commentary’.

	Basically, get your DVD or BluRay or OnDemand copy of the movie ready to play. Start the movie night audio, listen for the ‘start’ cue and viola! We’re watching the movie together! Or, you can just listen to the audio without watching the movie. However you prefer it, the goal is the same: performing movie surgery. Cracking the movie open and looking around its insides. Seeing what makes it tick, what makes it so healthy or sick.

	*They might be hits that are really sht, or subtle works of art that need to be decoded. Whatever the reason, Movie Night is here to go beyond the standard director/actor/crafts person commentaries.**

	Arguably, The Dark Knight is the greatest comic book movie ever made. The Joker is one of the greatest cinematic villains of all time brought to life by an Oscar winning performance by Heath Ledger. But, is the film, as a whole, a true masterpiece? Or, has the hype and fanboy bias blinded us?

	A big budget, solid actors, advanced special effects, years of anticipation and...McG. How could a story about the future war we’ve been waiting to see for 25 years NOT be awesome? We’re gonna try and find out in the finale of our look at The Terminator Saga.


	We all know Revenge of the Fallen sucked big Devastator demolition balls, but, why? What are the specific reasons? Lets torture ourselves one more time for the sake of wisdom and understanding so we can be freed of it’s cinematic tyranny.


	Michael Bay is rebooting Freddy!? Yeha, so, it’s time to take a look back at what made him a unique slasher, how the series evolved, when it Jumped the Shark and if a remake can work.

	One of the great action/sci-fi movies of all time, one of Ah-nuld’s most quotable and one of my favorites of all time! It’s time to talk Total Recall, the proposed remake, and how it blended brain and brawn into a classic mix.


	A James Cameron-less Terminator movie. Do we need to say anymore? Yeah, I guess we do, for an hour and forty minutes! Let’s break down the how, where and why this lazy, mid 2000’s let’s-cash-in-on-franchises-motivated sequel destroyed this once great fictional universe.


	Easily one of the biggest challenges any filmmaker has ever faced: Do better than The Terminator. Cameron’s answer: Terminator 2: Judgement Day with revolutionary CGI effects that ADD TO the characters and drama instead of replacing them!

	One question Terminator Salvation: What went wrong? To find the answer let’s take a journey through the entire Terminator Saga! First up, the 1984 surprise hit that made Schwarzenegger a mega star and introduced us to James Cameron.


	With all the recent slasher remakes, it’s time to look back at a movie that one that revitalized the dying genre back in the mid 90’s and set the stage for the horror spoofs of the 2000’s.


	The Dark Knight just came out on DVD. It’s the best Batman ever. But, to appreciate it even more, let’s take a look at what is accepted as easily the worst installment of the series.

	It’s been 19 years since the last Indy adventure. But is it a worthy addition to the classic trilogy? Or, is Hollywood just cashing in on our willingness to pay for another Indy adventure?


	It’s Halloween, so let’s take a look at a movie that’s scary for many reasons, most of which is how bad it turned out. Has M. Night lost his touch? Or is this a misunderstood masterpiece?


	Now that the hype has died down, it’s time to take an objective look at what worked and didn’t. There’s more to a movie than cool effects.
